State hockey player, brother-in-law die in Kochi bike accident

KOCHI: A youngster and his sister-in-law, a state hockey player, died in a tragic bike accident while going to buy décor items for his daughter’s naming ceremony. Sufian (22) of Fatima Mansil, Thrikaripur Udinur, Kasaragod, and Meenakshi (20) of Anamthuruth House, Thevara Koithara Colony, died in the accident.

The accident happened near Lourdes Church on Saturday midnight. The speeding bike hit the post on the bend near the church and rammed into the vehicles parked in front of the restaurants. Both were rushed to a private hospital but could not be saved.

Sufian worked at a juice shop in Kochi where he met Meenakshi’s sister Malavika. They married just one year back and were living in Malavika’s house in Thevara. Meenakshi was studying pharmacy in a private college.

Sufian is the son of Ashiq and Saifunisa. Meenakshi's parents are Raju and Uma.
