Taking oath in Oommen Chandy’s name; HC seeks explanation from panchayat member

PALAKKAD: The Kerala High Court has sought an explanation from a congress member of Vadakkencherry panchayat for taking oath in the name of Oommen Chandy. Sunil Chuvattupadam, who won from 21st ward took the oath in the name of former chief minister Oommen Chandy.

C Kannan of the LDF, who won from the 15th ward, approached the Kerala High Court. The court stated that the petitioner's argument is prima facie valid. Meantime, the high court also said that there is no obstacle to holding the president election. Justice N Nagaresh directed the opposing parties to complete their arguments within three weeks.
