
KANNUR: The accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case has been granted parole again. Parole was granted to Muhammed Shafi and Shinoj. The two were granted a 15-day parole. The jail authorities said the act of granting parole is a natural process.
T K Rajeesh, the fourth accused in the case, was granted a 20-day parole the other day. He has to return to jail on January 10. Rajeesh of Kannur has given his Ernakulam address to the jail. Therefore, the parole condition is that he should not leave Ernakulam. This is the second time in three months that Rajeesh has been granted parole.
Rajeesh was granted parole for 30 days from August 1 last year. After returning to jail, he was under treatment at the Kannur Ayurveda Hospital for a month and a half. He returned to jail on December 7 after treatment.
Kodi Suni, an accused in the case, was granted parole for 60 days in seven months. Evidence had earlier emerged that DIG Vinod Kumar of the jail had taken bribes to grant parole to the accused. Vigilance had found that DIG Vinod Kumar was taking lakhs of rupees from the relatives of the prisoners for parole and to provide them additional facilities in the jail.
