Violation of Code of Conduct: 1,07,202 complaints received through C-Vigil

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A total of 1,07,202 complaints were received in the state through the Election Commission's C-Vigil app for reporting violations of the Lok Sabha Election Code of Conduct. Action was taken on 1,05,356 complaints that were found to be true. Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul informed that action is in progress in 183 complaints. There were 93,540 complaints regarding unauthorized posters and banners and 5,908 complaints regarding defacement of property. 2,150 complaints were received regarding posters that did not include mandatory information and 177 complaints regarding unauthorized use of vehicles. Other complaints include the distribution of money (29), distribution of liquor (32), giving of gifts (24), display of weapons (110), hate speech (19) and use of speaker after the time limit (10). 1,663 complaints were dismissed as lacking in substance.

Complaints submitted with a short note along with a photograph of the violations and a video not exceeding two minutes will be acted upon within 100 minutes. C-Vigil application can be downloaded from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
