KOZHIKODE: A confrontation over pension eligibility turned violent at the Mukkam Municipal office, where a revenue official was bitten and injured by a visitor.
The incident occurred when a woman arrived at the office to discuss her widow's pension. Following standard procedure, officials, including Revenue Inspector Dhanya, requested that she provide a life certificate or document confirming she had not remarried. This request reportedly triggered a violent outburst from the woman, who lunged at the Revenue Inspector and bit her on the arm.
When other municipal staff members attempted to intervene and restrain the woman, they were also reportedly shoved and assaulted. Sources at the scene indicated that the woman appeared to be suffering from mental health issues.
