THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Unnikrishnan Potty, the main accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case, has given a crucial statement against former minister Kadakampally Surendran. His statement before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is that it was Kadakampally who introduced the sponsors from other states to the board.

Potty clarified that it was the former minister who directed to provide all possible assistance to Ramesh Rao and Govardhan. This is also mentioned in SIT’s report submitted in the high court. The statements of the sponsors also mention that they were acquainted with the former minister.

Potty had yesterday filed a complaint with the DGP yesterday, alleging that Kadakampally Surendran tried to frame him in a false case. Potty alleged that Kadakampally was behind the recent complaint filed against him by a woman Prathiba of Kazhakkoottam, in connection with a land scam. Potty claimed that Kadakampally tried to prevent his release from jail in the Sabarimala gold theft case and demanded an investigation on it.

However, Kadakampally Surendran MLA told media this morning that he has not interfered in anyone's financial issues. Kadakampally Surendran clarified that this is a fake campaign with an eye on the elections and that what Unnikrishnan Potty said is not true. He added that an attempt is being made to insult him.
