The incident took place on a flight from Heathrow, UK, to New York. The pilot's parents were also passengers on the plane. He reportedly left the cockpit open so that his parents could see him controlling the plane. Footage of the pilot flying the plane with the cockpit open is widely shared on social media.

Meanwhile, the pilot explained that the cockpit door was left open unexpectedly. The pilot himself shared a video on Instagram explaining the incident.
