ABU DHABI: The first big ticket lottery draw of this year in Abu Dhabi was won by a Malayali yet again. This time, luck favored Abdullah Sulaiman, who works as an accountant in Saudi Arabia. The ticket number 019362 bought by Abdullah won him one million dirhams (about Rs. 2.5 crore) in the draw. Abdullah said that he has been buying big tickets every month for the last five years.
Abdullah told media that he will use the prize money to pay off his debts and set aside the remaining amount for his family. Tickets can be purchased online or offline from the website www.bigticket.ae or from Zayed International Airport and Al Ain Airport. The lives of many expatriates, including Malayalees, are changing through big ticket. Recently, another Malayali also received crores as prize through the big-ticket draw.
Manu Mohanan won the grand prize of three crore dirhams (more than 70 crore Indian rupees) in the 270th series of Big-Ticket draw. Manu, who has been living in the UAE for six years and works as a nurse, won the prize for ticket number 535948, which he bought on December 26. Manu had been trying his luck on the Big Ticket for the past five years. He bought the ticket with 16 friends.
