Oman bans bottled water after contamination kills two in Suwaiq

MUSCAT: Oman has banned the bottled water ‘Uranus Star’ after the death of two-a native of Oman and an expat woman. The two died after drinking the bottled water. The incident happened in the Wilayat of Suwaiq in the northern Batinah Governorate.


It was found that they were poisoned from the contaminated bottled water imported from Iran. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of harmful substances in the water. The police have ordered the immediate withdrawal of the brand that led to the poisoning. Strict precautionary measures have been taken to protect the health of the public. In addition, the Omani government has banned the import of all bottled water from Iran.


Authorities have urged citizens and residents to immediately inform the relevant authorities if they suspect that unsafe bottled water or other products are in the market.
