BEIJING: China has come forward supporting Pakistan as tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in a statement that they will stand by Pakistan to safeguard its national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Pakistani Foreign Office said that Wang Yi conveyed China's stand during a telephone conversation with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

Ishaq Dar briefed Wang Yi on the situation in Pakistan during the talks between the two. Wang Yi assured that China, as a strategic cooperative partner and friend of Pakistan, will stand firmly with them in upholding its sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence under any circumstances.

Ishaq Dar also spoke to UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, who welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India. In addition, Ishaq Dar spoke to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and briefed him on the present situation in the region.

Meantime, despite the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, tensions continued on the borders. India retaliated strongly against Pakistan's move. With this, the situation between the two countries has become complicated. Indian sources said that Pakistan is being closely monitored.
