TEL AVIV: Hamas launched a lightning attack on Israel. Al-qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said eight missiles were fired at Tel Aviv. Al Jazeera TV reported that many of the missiles were destroyed by Israel's missile defense system, while Hamas reportedly launched the missile attack from the Gaza city of Rafah. Al-qassam Brigades said on their Telegram channel that the attack was in response to Zionist massacres of civilians.

It is reported that many buildings in the city were damaged in the lightning strike. Rocket sirens rang out in cities including Herzliya and Petah Tikva. Meanwhile, the Israeli Emergency Medical Service reported no casualties in the attack.

Earlier, Iran-backed Hezbollah had announced plans to launch a surprise attack on Israel. Hezbollah General Secretary Hassan Nasrallah warned Israel in a televised message to be ready for "surprises." Hezbollah, which is celebrating the 24th anniversary of Resistance and Liberation Day, has made it clear that it expects new surprises from its resistance. Hezbollah is a militant organization fighting in support of Palestine in the Hamas-Israel conflict.

Israel-Hamas conflict reignited after an attack by Hamas last October. Nasrallah said Israel failed to achieve any of its goals in the Gaza war. The General Secretary of Hezbollah added that the recognition of Palestine as an independent state by European countries is a significant setback for Israel and for these reasons, Israel must face the International Criminal Court.
