BEIRUT: At least 32 people have been killed as walkie talkies and pagers used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon exploded. More than 300 were injured. The authorities said that they don't know exactly how many walkie talkies exploded. There are reports that landline telephones also blew up in some parts of Lebanon.

Walkie talkie explosions occurred throughout southern Lebanon and in the southern suburbs of Beirut last afternoon. All are Hezbollah centers. Lebanese media reported that there were explosions in Beirut, Beqaa Valley and South Lebanon. There was a walkie talkie blast during the funeral of those killed in the pager blast on Tuesday.

The walkie talkies brought five months ago exploded. The walkie talkies were delivered along with the pagers that had exploded the previous day. The Israeli spy agency Mossad carried out the blasts by sending messages with explosives on pagers.

Meantime, Hezbollah revealed that it had launched a rocket attack on Israel's arsenal following the pager blasts. There has been no official announcement from Israel regarding the incident. In the wake of the series of electronic explosions in Lebanon, the United Nations Security Council has called an emergency meeting. The UN has decided to hold a meeting this week.
