BENGALURU: Ambiguity looms over the rescue operation to find the missing truck driver in Shirur. The government has not reached a consensus to bring dredgers from Goa by spending a wholesome amount of Rs one crore. The search has been currently put on hold minding the high current and the murky waters of the Gangavali river.

It is not certain whether the bodies of the missing people can be found even if the soil is removed. The Uttara Kannada administration is apprehensive of spending such humungous money, as they believe it to be no use other than ensuring that the lorry owner gets his insurance. A high-level meeting will be held this morning to discuss the next steps of the rescue mission.

The company told the media that the dredger could be delivered only after a week. Karwar MLA Satish Sail also stated that it will take five days for the machine to reach Shirur. During the last day's search, the rope and metal parts of the lorry were found in the Gangavali River. Lorry owner Manaf identified the rope as the ones used in his truck.

District Collector Laxmipriya, who is co-ordinating the rescue mission, stated that crucial evidence was found in the search to find Arjun.

On the 16th of last month, Arjun, a native of Kannadikkal, Kozhikode, went missing in a landslide in Karnataka. Apart from Arjun, Karnataka natives Lokesh and Jagannath are also to be found. The main obstacle to the search is the silt lying on the river bed.
