Accidents continue to plague the set of 'Kantara: Chapter 1'. During a film shoot, actor and director Rishab Shetty and 30 crew members were involved in a boating mishap. The incident occurred in a reservoir in the Shimoga district in Karnataka, near Meline Koppa, a shallow area of the water body. Fortunately, everyone on board narrowly escaped without injury. However, filming equipment, including the camera, was lost in the accident. The boat capsized in the shallow waters, allowing all passengers to safely reach the shore.
“Making a film about Bhoota Kola, a traditional ritual art form in southern Kannada, involves inherent risks. The spirits (Bhootas-Daivas) do not like the commercialisation of any activity connected to them,” said theatre artist Ramadas Poojary in a statement to the media. He added that Rishab Shetty had performed all traditional rituals before the film’s production began.
“We believe it's by divine grace that no one was harmed,” said one of the crew members. This marks the fourth accident on the Kantara set this year. Tragically, three artists associated with the film have already lost their lives in separate incidents. Police from Thirthahalli have visited the site and begun an investigation.
