'For the first time, I saw my father completely broken'; Ahaana Krishna about her father

Actor Krishnakumar and his daughter Diya Krishna have been in the news recently in connection with a financial fraud complaint. Amid this, heartfelt words shared by Krishnakumar's eldest daughter and actress Ahaana Krishna on his birthday have caught public attention.

"The love that Malayalis are showering on my father right now is truly what he deserves. I don’t know how to openly express love to my dad. I usually show love in subtle ways. But I always make sure he gets what he needs. There’s one memory that always comes to mind when I think of my dad. I used to have very poor eyesight and wore strong prescription glasses. So, around the age of 15 or 16, I wanted to undergo LASIK surgery.

When I became eligible for the surgery, we went to a hospital in Tirunelveli. It was my father who came with me. My mother was always afraid of 'laser' and such stuff. Both my parents had perfect vision, so it always upset them that their daughter had poor eyesight.

The doctors had said that they'd be able to tell if surgery would be possible only after conducting a check-up. We didn’t have the money then. A friend of my father gave us one lakh rupees for the check-up. Both my father and I were hopeful. However, after the check-up, the doctors said that surgery wasn’t advisable at the time due to the high risk and limitations of the then-available technology. I was shocked upon hearing it. For the first time, I saw my father — who usually faces every problem head-on — completely broken. What moved me most was when he said, ‘If I had anything that I could give her, I would give it.’ That sentence took away my sadness. Because no one in the world would say something like that — except our parents," Ahaana said.
