Actress Priya Prakash Varrier is an actress who became popular among Malayalis through the film 'Oru Adaar Love'. The actress had to face several cyber attacks through social media. In a recent interview with a channel, Priya opened up about why she is not getting many offers in the Malayalam film industry. She said that she is losing opportunities due to the preconceptions of some people.
"I'm not deliberately staying away from Malayalam. I'm not getting good characters. At the same time, I'm getting many offers in Tamil, Hindi and Kannada languages. I don't know the reason why I'm not getting offers in Malayalam. I don't know if filmmakers have not seen the films that I acted in. I haven't got any exciting characters in Malayalam. I didn't come to the industry through an audition. My growth in the industry was rapid. I received several kinds of tags on social media like 'wink girl', 'overnight star', etc.
Maybe that is why directors are not ready to take risks by casting me. I can prove my talent only if they give me opportunities. I have approached many directors seeking chances in their films. I went for auditions last year as well. The bad comments on social media have also affected my chances.
Some people have preconceptions about me. They say I'm arrogant. Maybe many people have the feeling that I won't be able to perform well in their films. I have been facing such incidents for several years. People have criticised me for my photoshoots. I'm doing photoshoots to present myself as much as I can. I'm not doing it to get opportunities or attract anyone," Priya said.
