MUMBAI: Actor Vikrant Massey, known for his impactful performances in films such as Twelfth Fail and Sector 36, has announced his retirement from the film industry. The 37-year-old actor, who was last seen in Sabarmati Report, stunned fans and the industry with his decision to step away from acting.
Massey made the announcement on Instagram, expressing gratitude to his supporters. He wrote, "The last few years have been extraordinary. I thank everyone for their support. It’s time to take a break. I have to return home—as a husband, father, son and actor. So, we will see each other on screen for the last time in 2025. There are many memories in the last two films. Thank you once again. I am forever indebted to you for everything."
His post left fans in shock and sadness, with many expressing their appreciation for his hard work and talent. One fan commented, "There is no actor who works as hard as you. You should do more good films."
Massey, a Mumbai-born actor, made his film debut in 2007 with Dhoom Machao Dhoom and initially gained recognition through television roles. However, his career took a significant turn in 2017 with his lead role in A Death in the Gunj, a film that marked a milestone in his career.
His most notable success came with last year’s Twelfth Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film, based on the real-life story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who failed his 12th class but later became an IPS officer, became a massive hit and solidified Massey's position in the film industry.
Massey was recently honored with the Indian Film Personality of the Year Award at the Goa International Film Festival, marking a significant milestone in his career before his retirement announcement. Fans will get to see him on screen one final time in 2025.
