'Laapataa Ladies' selected as India’s entry for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars

Kiran Rao's ‘Laapataa Ladies’ has been selected as India's entry for the Oscars this year, competing for the Best International Feature Film award at the 97th Academy Awards. The film, which premiered in theaters on March 1, was chosen from a pool of 29 contenders.

The announcement was made by the Film Federation of India. Other notable films considered included Malayalam films such as ‘Aadujeevitham’, ‘Ullozhukku’ and ‘Aattam’.

‘Laapataa Ladies’ has gathered attention from both audiences and critics alike. Produced by Kiran Rao, Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande, the film stars Nitanshi Goyal, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Srivastava and Ravi Kishan in key roles. The story revolves around two newlywed women.
