Mamta Mohandas is one of the leading heroines in Malayalam. Mamta, who entered the acting scene with the film Mayookham directed by Hariharan, grew as an actress rapidly. It was during this time that she realized that she had cancer. Mamta had revealed in interviews about some of the problems she faced while she was suffering from the disease. Now, actor and director Alleppey Ashraf has opened up about some of the incidents that happened in Mamta's life. He revealed these through his YouTube channel.
'Mamta was supposed to act instead of Anushka Shetty in the big-budget Telugu film Arundhati. She had signed the contract also. Mamta withdrew from it due to the wickedness of the film's manager. Arundhati was a super hit in Malayalam too. Mamta realized that she had cancer while proceeding with movies and her family. She defeated cancer with courage. In the beginning, Mamta did not even inform those from the film industry that she had cancer.
Mamta also won the state government's Best Actress award. This was followed by Mamta's marriage. She married her childhood friend and businessman Sujith Padmanabhan in 2011. It was also noteworthy that they decided to divorce in 2012. After that, Mamta became active in the playback singing industry. During this time, cancer came back to haunt her life. She stopped doing films and underwent treatment. Thus, Mamta underwent bone marrow transplant surgery. She became active in acting again.
By 2013, Mamta's disease had worsened again. At that time, she said some things. She said that she could no longer continue in Kerala, the sympathetic looks of her colleagues, that she could not go out without makeup and a wig because she was an actress, that she could not afford the sexual perversions she had to face in some hospitals, the looks, and the price of medicines.
At that time, Mamta had the opportunity to try a new treatment method that had been invented in America. Mamta was the first Indian to go to America for this. Mamta has spoken about her experience of ingratitude in many interviews. Mamta said, "I had done a guest role in an actress's film. But when I called that actress to do a small role in a film where I was the heroine, she refused. Some actresses have hired PR workers to promote themselves as superstars." Mamta had also said that Malayalam actresses are not like this- said Alleppey Ashraf.
