Vijay Sethupathi, Kamal Haasan condemn discrimination against tribal family who was denied entry at theatre in Chennai

CHENNAI: Social media responses continues to flow in after a tribal family who came to watch Silambarasan's film 'Path Thala' was not allowed into Rohini Theatre in Chennai. The family bought tickets for the movie but the authorities there wasn't willing to let them in. The incident was on March 30.

Not only the general public, but even celebrities reacted to the incident. Vijay Sethupathi said that this kind of discrimination can never be accepted and the earth was created for all human beings to live equally. Vijay Sethupathi was speaking to the media after visiting a photo exhibition in Madurai about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's political career. He added that we should react against those who oppress another human being.

The said tribal family belongs to the 'Narikurava' community. Videos on the incident were widely circulated on social media. After the incident became controversial, the theatre authorities also came forward with an explanation. According to the theatre authority, children below 12 years of age are not allowed to watch movies with U/A certificate as per law and this is why the ticket checking staff denied entry.

Tamil actor Kamala Haasan also posted about the incident on his Facebook page. He said that the family was allowed to enter the theatre only after the incident went viral on social media.
