NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has asked actor Vijay Sethupathi to face trial in the defamation case filed by Tamil actor Maha Gandhi in connection with a brawl at the Bengaluru airport. Vijay Sethupathi's request to stay the trial proceedings in the Chennai Saidapet Court was rejected.
The court allowed time for both the actors to reach a consensus but no solution was reached. It was then decided that Vijay Sethupathi had no other option but to face the trial. The incident took place in 2021 when Maha Gandhi was trying to talk to Sethupathi inside the airport. Maha Gandhi's complaint is that Vijay Sethupathi shoved and treated him badly. Video footage of the incident was also circulated. Later, a criminal defamation case was filed against Vijay Sethupathi.
