Death of N M Vijayan: I C Balakrishnan MLA named first accused, case likely against more 

KALPETTA: Charges of abetment to suicide has been imposed against the MLA and DCC president in connection with the death of Wayanad DCC treasurer N M Vijayan. The charge of abetment to suicide was imposed against I C Balakrishnan, N D Appachan and K K Gopinath based on the letters released along with Vijayan's suicide note.

MLA I C Balakrishnan is the first accused in the case. The police have also requested to transfer the case to Bathery court. A vigilance investigation is also continuing in the incident. With this, it has become clear that a case will also be filed against top Congress leaders. The police had received crucial information on the appointment bribery deal in the cooperative bank. A team led by Sultan Bathery DySP K K Abdul Sharif is investigating the case.

Meanwhile, the information is that the accused I C Balakrishnan MLA is staying away from public events. He has not participated in public events for the past three days. The DYFI had said that they would stop him from participating in public programmes. The DYFI had previously said that protests will continue until Balakrishnan resigns.
