THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former DGP and Thiruvananthapuram Corporation councillor R Sreelekha has approached the Kerala High Court seeking to quash a POCSO case registered against her by the Museum Police Station. In her petition, Sreelekha argued that she did not reveal the names of any minor girls and therefore the case under the POCSO Act cannot stand.

The case was registered following a complaint that Sreelekha disclosed the names of girls who had died after being victims of sexual assault through her YouTube channel 'Sasneham Sreelekha'. The police registered the case based on a directive from the court. In her petition, Sreelekha also argued that the court does not have the authority to direct the registration of a POCSO case. The High Court has sought an explanation from the state government on the matter. However, the court did not consider her request to stay further proceedings in the case until a final verdict is delivered.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Sreelekha may contest the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections as a BJP candidate from the Vattiyoorkavu constituency. According to reports, election campaign activities, including wall writing, are expected to begin in the constituency as early as tomorrow.
