
VIDISHA: Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that there is a need for political leaders who are capable of working honestly for farmers in rural India. He said the main challenge facing the country is not in providing financial assistance to rural farmers and the poor, but in committed leadership. He was speaking at a public event in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan were also present on the stage. Gadkari spoke about the empowerment of farmers and national growth. His speech mentioned mythology. There is no shortage of money in the country, but there is a need for honest political leaders. This is the challenge for development. I have dedicated my life to ensure that farmers do not commit suicide. 90 percent of my activities are aimed at farmers,' said Gadkari.
Meantime, inauguration and foundation stone laying of eight road projects worth Rs 4,400 crore in Vidisha was held. The government also approved new initiatives worth Rs 1 lakh crore for the growth of the state. Nitin Gadkari also called upon the farmers to be transformed into energy providers instead of breadwinners.
He also pointed out that Nagpur will get an income of Rs 300 crore from the sale of purified toilet water. Nitin Gadkari also mentioned that if there were proper leaders in the country, even waste could have been turned into wealth. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rule aims to make India the third largest economy in the world and eventually the most powerful country.
