Two killed as fire breaks out at firecracker unit in Cumbum 

CUMBUM: Two people died in a fire at a firecracker unit in Kattupallivasal. The dead have been identified as Surya and Deena Dayalan of Cumbum. Two others sustained serious injuries. They are undergoing treatment at Theni Medical College Hospital.

There was also a firecracker shop next to the firecracker unit. The unit had been closed for the past two days in view of the elections. The accident occurred hours after the unit reopened this morning. The police and fire force immediately reached the spot and started efforts to douse the flames. The extent of the accident was reduced as it was the opening time of the shop and not many people were there.
