NEW DELHI: Sandeep Dikshit, Congress leader and son of former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit criticized Shashi Tharoor for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He asked why is Tharoor still in Congress if he feels that the BJP’s strategies are working better. Tharoor was criticized over his praise for Modi’s lecture on Ramnath Goenka in a post on X.
Sandeep said, ‘Tharoor's problem is that I don't think he knows a lot about the country... If, according to you, someone is doing good for the country by going against the Congress's policies, then you should follow those policies... Why are you in Congress? Is it only because you are an MP?... If you really feel that the BJP or PM Modi's strategies are working better than the party you are in, then you should give an explanation. If you are not giving one, you are a hypocrite.’
Tharoor's post said that he felt Modi's speech served as both an economic outlook and a cultural call to action. Tharoor also noted that the Prime Minister's call for nationalism is commendable. However, in Shashi Tharoor's presence, the Prime Minister made a sharp criticism of the Congress. Modi had once again raised the criticism of the Muslim League as a Maoist Congress in his speech. Tharoor supported Modi's speech despite the criticism against his party.
