PATNA: The NDA has begun efforts to bring Lalu Prasad Yadav's elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, who was ousted from the RJD, into its fold. According to reports, some NDA leaders met Tej Pratap Yadav on Sunday night. After being ousted from his father's party before the elections, Tej Pratap had formed his own political outfit and contested the polls. However, his party lost in all the seats it contested.
Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled his elder son from the party and the family for six years after a video surfaced showing Tej Pratap with a young woman. Lalu said his son had behaved irresponsibly in both his public and personal life. Following this, Tej Pratap formed a party called Jan Shakti Janata Dal and entered the election, but he was defeated everywhere he contested.
Tej Pratap's entry into the elections caused a major split in the RJD's vote base. The party, which was once the largest single party in the state, was reduced to just 25 seats- a major setback.
