NEW DELHI: Young IFS officer Nidhi Tewari was appointed as the Personal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. Nidhi, a 2014-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, is currently the Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office.
A native of Mahmoorganj in Varanasi, Nidhi has been working in the Prime Minister's Office for over three years. She joined as Under Secretary in November 2022 and became Deputy Secretary in 2023. Nidhi also has experience working in the Department of Disarmament and International Security Affairs in the Ministry of External Affairs under National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
Nidhi secured 96th rank in the UPSC civil services 2013. Before her IAS stint, she worked as Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Tax) in Varanasi. Nidhi will now carry the responsibility of coordinating the Prime Minister's programs, organising meetings, and coordinating work of government departments. Nidhi’s monthly salary will be about two lakh rupees.
