SRINAGAR: Security forces have arrested a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist who tried to infiltrate across the border in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Abdul Khalik, a native of Budhal in Rajpuri district, was arrested with an AK rifle. He was working as an overground worker for the terrorist organisation operating in Poonch and Rajpuri. He has been handed over to the police for further action.
Abdul Khalik went missing years ago. Investigations have revealed that he had crossed into Pakistan for weapons training and was caught by BSF personnel while trying to infiltrate across the border. The intelligence department assesses that this infiltration is part of Pakistan's efforts to revive terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir by understanding the terrain of the area and using local terrorists. After a gap of seven months after Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has reportedly activated 12 launch pads in Sialkot and Safarwal areas facing Samba, Kathua and Jammu sectors. Security agencies are on high alert following this.
