Actress Meera absconding for past three years in caste slur case, arrested 

CHENNAI: Actress, model and YouTuber Meera Mithun, who had been absconding for the past three years in the case of her derogatory remarks against Dalits on social media, has been arrested. She was arrested in the case over the incident that happened in 2021. The actress, who was arrested then, went into hiding after being released on bail. An arrest warrant was issued against the actress in 2022 after she failed to appear for the trial of the case. Meera was arrested from Delhi. The actress will be produced before the Chennai District Principal Sessions Court on August 11.

The court had criticized the police for not being able to arrest the actress even after three years of issuing the arrest warrant. A case has been registered against Meera Mithun and her friend Sam Abhishek under seven sections. A case was registered against her for her statement that Scheduled Castes should be expelled from the film industry in the controversy surrounding the first look poster. Various organizations had filed complaints against the actress.

The actress rose to fame through the reality show Bigg Boss on Vijay TV. She also attended in the show Jodi Number One on Vijay TV. She has also acted in films like 8 Thottakal, Thana Serntha Koottam, and Bodhai Yeri Buddhi Maari.
