MUMBAI: Police have beefed up security across coastal areas in Maharashtra after a suspicious boat was spotted off the coast. According to police sources, the boat was discovered close to Revdanda beach in Raigad district, approximately two nautical miles off the coast of Korlai. Preliminary assessments by security personnel suggest that the boat may belong to a foreign country.
Following the discovery, multiple agencies, including the Raigad Police, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), Quick Response Team (QRT), the Indian Navy, and the Coast Guard, were immediately dispatched to the site. Raigad Superintendent of Police Aanchal Dalal also reached the location along with senior officials to assess the situation. Adverse weather conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds, have reportedly hampered efforts to approach the boat. As a precautionary measure, a large police force has been deployed in the area, and security across the district has been intensified, Dalal added.
