Cargo ropeway trolley breaks down at Pavagadh Hill Temple; six including two Kashmiris and one Rajasthani dead at Gujarat

GANDHINAGAR: Six dead after cargo ropeway trolley collapses in Gujarat's Pavagadh. The trolley, which was carrying construction materials, collapsed after its cable broke. The accident occurred around 3.30 pm. The Panchmahal Collector said that six people, including two liftmen and two workers, died in the accident. Four people were injured in the accident. It is reported that three of the deceased are locals, two are Kashmiri, and one is Rajasthani.

The district administration has ordered an investigation into the incident. The cargo ropeway trolley, which was being used for construction work at Kali Mata temple atop Pavagadh Hill, fell down after the cables broke. Police and fire brigade teams immediately reached the spot and carried out rescue operations. The cables broke near the fourth tower and it crashed with tower number one and collapsed. The deceased are five people who were in the cabin and one person who was at the scene of the accident.

The temple, which requires a climb of 2,000 steps, is located at an altitude of about 800 meters. The passenger ropeway that takes pilgrims to the temple was closed due to bad weather, but the goods ropeway, which was used for construction work, was operational. The police have launched an investigation into the accident.
