'Casted vote myself, no vote chori'; Haryana native Pinky rejects Rahul Gandhi's allegations

NEW DELHI: Voters came out to deny Rahul Gandhi's allegation that 22 fake votes were cast using the photo of a Brazilian model in the Haryana assembly elections. Haryana native Pinky totally denied the allegations, saying that she only exercised her right to vote.

The photo on the voter ID she got six years ago was wrongly printed. The address was correct. In the 2024 assembly elections, Pinky went to the booth holding her voter's ID. She voted by showing her voter slip and Aadhaar card. She does not know the 'Brazilian model' in the photo ID. No one else has voted in her name. Pinky said that she went to the polling booth with her husband and mother-in-law.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Rahul stated that 22 fake votes were cast in the names of Sweety, Pinky, Seema, Saraswati, and Darshan in 10 booths in the Rai constituency. The husband of the voter named Guni, mentioned by Rahul, said that she died four years ago. No one has voted in Guni's name in the assembly elections. It is not known whether the photo of the Brazilian model is on Guni's voter ID. The relatives of another voter named Anju also denied Rahul's allegations of fake votes in elections. Anju did not vote in 2024 following her husband’s death.

The Haryana Chief Electoral Officer expressed willingness to start an investigation into the alleged irregularities if Rahul Gandhi files a complaint. He also asked Rahul to file a declaration in accordance with the Registration of Electors Rules.
