NEW DELHI: Big questions are being raised at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's personal secretary Bibhav Kumar after footage of AAP MP Swati Maliwal getting beaten up was found to be tampered with. Swati Maliwal alleged the disappearance of the CCTV footage at Kejriwal's residence. Earlier, AAP had released a 50-second edited footage of the incident on social media platform X.
Maliwal also questioned the mobile phone footage filmed on Bibhav Kumar’s phone. According to reports, the former Delhi CM’s PA had formatted his phone right before the Delhi police reached Kejriwal’s residence to detain Bibhav.
In a veiled attack aimed at Kejriwal, Swati Mailwal reminded the elite APP honchos about the party’s past legacy of entering the streets of Delhi to ensure justice for Nirbhaya. Swati said the same AAP leaders are now on the street to protect a woman beater. In an emotional note, Swati said she would not have had to endure such an ordeal if former deputy CM Manish Sisodia had been at the helm of affairs in Delhi. Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is currently in Tihar Jail.
The investigation team is trying to find the CCTV footage. They reached Kejriwal's residence on Sunday and seized CCTV's DVR (Digital Video Recorder) and laptop. Meanwhile, Bibhav is still in police custody.
According to Bibhav Kumar:
On May 13: Maliwal reaches Kejriwal's residence around 08:40 am. She informs the officials about her appointment to meet the Chief Minister. Security personnel blocked her after learning that she was not allowed in. Maliwal tries to force enter the house.
09:20 am: Bibhav comes to know about the incident.
09:22 am: Bibhav meets Maliwal and requests her to follow the procedure for meeting the Chief Minister. Maliwal shouts obscenities and tries to enter the residence. Suspicious of her behaviour, Bibhav stops her. Maliwal calls the police control room.
09:24: Security personnel summoned inside
09:35: Maliwal escorted out
