NEW DELHI: By killing the Pahalgam terrorists, the Union government got a big upper hand on the very day the discussion on Operation Sindoor began in the Lok Sabha. Union Home Minister Amit Shah brought up Operation Mahadev in the Lok Sabha. He highlighted the Centre's anti-terror campaign. He said that the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack and those who sent them were crushed. The Congress government was sharply criticised. Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, P. Chidambaram and others were severely attacked. Meanwhile, the opposition raised the security lapse in Pahalgam.
Pakistan-occupied Kashmir: Nehru's mistake
Amit Shah lashes out at former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. "Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is Nehru's fault. Nehru is solely responsible for the fact that a part of Kashmir is occupied by Pakistan. In 1948, the army was ready to take back Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, but Nehru unilaterally declared a ceasefire. He gave water to Pakistan. Nehru was soft on China. China is a member of the United Nations Security Council. The reason for that is also Nehru. In 1971, 93,000 Pakistani soldiers surrendered. The then Indira Gandhi government did not take back Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. There were 7217 terrorist attacks in Kashmir from 2004 to 2014. What did Congress do? During 2015 to 2025, the attacks were reduced by 70 percent. Pakistan claims that they are victims of terrorism; former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also repeated it."
Priyanka hits back
Priyanka Gandhi hit back at Amit Shah for accusing Congress leader Sonia Gandhi of shedding tears for the terrorists killed in the Delhi Batla House attack. Priyanka clarified that Sonia shed tears when her husband and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi became a martyr for the country. Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav raised a question about the security lapse in Pahalgam. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge demanded in the Rajya Sabha that Amit Shah should take responsibility for the lapse. DMK MP Kanimozhi said that when the all-party meeting was called regarding the Pahalgam terror attack, the opposition parties stood with the central government.
