RAIPUR: Police registered a case against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra for making derogatory remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The FIR was registered at the Mana police station in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The BJP also filed a complaint against Moitra in Krishnanagar, West Bengal.
Moitra's remarks were in response to Amit Shah's statement criticising the Mamata Banerjee government in Bengal. Moitra stated that the Union Home Ministry, headed by Shah, was responsible for border security flubs, and excused the Trinamool government for infiltration into the state.
"If no one is protecting India's borders, if tens of thousands of people from other countries are entering India every day and stealing land, then first chop off Amit Shah's head and put it on the table," Mahua Moitra said. In no time, the incendiary remarks became a source of controversy, and demand rose from BJP leaders to take Moitra to task.
