SRINAGAR: In a display of extraordinary bravery, a young horse rider was killed while attempting to disarm one of the terrorists during the devastating attack in Pahalgam. Syed Adil Hussain Shah was shot dead while courageously attempting to resist the attackers when they launched a sudden assault. Adil worked as a horse rider, ferrying tourists on horseback from the Pahalgam car parking area to the scenic Baisaran meadows, which are accessible only on foot or horseback.
The attack came unexpectedly, and Adil was shot during a struggle with one of the terrorists. He was the sole breadwinner for his family, which included his wife, children, and parents. Adil's father, Syed Haidar, said his son had left for work in Pahalgam around 3 PM yesterday.
“When we heard about the attack, we tried to call him, but his phone was switched off. By 4:40 PM, the phone was back on, but no one answered. We rushed to the police station, where we found out that my son had been injured in the attack,” the father said, adding, “Whoever is responsible must face the consequences.”
