CHANDIGARH: Four people were shot dead in a dispute over taking water from a canal to farmland. The incident took place in Gurdaspur, Punjab. It is reported that 60 rounds of fire were fired at the vehicle during the encounter between the two sides. Many people were injured in the incident.
The firing took place in Vithwan village on Sunday night. Police said there were 13 people in both groups. One faction fired 60 rounds at the car in which the opposite faction was travelling. The police have also released a picture of the vehicle. The people who were sitting inside the car died. Following the incident, the police reached the spot and arrested both sides. The police stated that an FIR had been registered and an investigation had started. The police will interrogate the injured people as well.
