NEW DELHI: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is taking over full control of the Indo-Russian venture BrahMos Centre in Thiruvananthapuram. BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the central government has given assurances in this regard and that the news that the institution will be closed is wrong.
The Thiruvananthapuram Brahmos Centre is a big asset to the Narendra Modi government's goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The fact that the Brahmos Centre continues to be a joint venture is an obstacle to implementing the Atmanirbhar Bharat project. That is why DRDO is taking over. Thus, the Brahmos Centre will achieve its full capacity. The Thiruvananthapuram Brahmos Centre will become an important centre that protects the country's strategic interests.
'Employees will not lose their jobs'
Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the news that BrahMos employees will lose their jobs is false. "The employees will come under the Union Ministry of Defence and DRDO. It was the INTUC and AITUC unions that gave the news to the media that the centre is being closed. Opposition leader VD Satheesan is just trying to create a controversy in this regard."
