NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa for questioning in a case related to illegal betting apps. Uthappa is scheduled to appear before the agency on September 22, and Yuvraj Singh on September 23 for questioning. Both will be questioned under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Robin Uthappa has been summoned in a case related to his dubious connection with the 1x bet app. The agency will question him about his contract with the company and the remuneration he received for endorsing the app.

The questioning is part of an investigation into whether celebrities knowingly or unknowingly promoted such betting apps in violation of India's legal system. Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan was also questioned for over eight hours at his office in Delhi last week. In August, the ED had also questioned former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina about his financial dealings and role in the 1x bet app.

The ED summoned actress Urvashi Rautela, the Indian brand ambassador of 1xBet, for questioning, but the actress has not appeared yet. Bengali actor Ankush Hazra appeared before the ED on Tuesday. Former TMC MP and actor Mimi Chakraborty was questioned by the ED for hours. This was followed by the summons of Yuvraj and Uthappa for questioning.
