NEW DELHI: The budget session was passed without prime minister’s motion of thanks to the policy statement made by President Droupadi Murmu in the Lok Sabha. This is the first time since 2004 that the President's address has been approved without a reply from the Prime Minister. It was expected that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would reply to the motion of thanks to the President's address yesterday. However, the Speaker adjourned the House after the opposition raised slogans.
Yesterday, the opposition members gathered near the chair of the Prime Minister. Congress women leaders marched with banners to the corridor where Modi was entering the House. Meanwhile, when BJP member P P Chowdhury started speaking during the discussion on the motion of thanks, the opposition members came to the center and shouted slogans. Immediately, panel member Sandhya Roy, who was in the chair, adjourned the House.
There was a ruckus in the Lok Sabha today as well. Speaker Om Birla read the motion of thanks to the President's address. The motion was passed by voice vote amid sloganeering by the opposition.
