NEW DELHI: Four Indian soldiers including a major, died in an encounter with terrorists. The incident happened yesterday at Doda in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack was during a joint search for terrorists by the Kashmir Police and the Indian Army. The terrorists hiding opened fire at the army around 9 pm. Brijesh Thapa, recently promoted as Major, is one of the four soldiers who lost their lives. One soldier was seriously injured.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh discussed the present situation of the incident with Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. This is the second terrorist attack on the army in Jammu and Kashmir in the last one week. Five soldiers lost their lives in the first attack at Kathua. Grenades were thrown at the truck in which the soldiers were traveling.

The situation in Jammu, which had been peaceful for the past few years, is returning to its old state. Even though the army is retaliating strongly, 48 soldiers have lost their lives in terrorist attacks in the last 32 months.
