MUMBAI: A baby was found abandoned in Navi Mumbai with a bottle, a sachet of milk powder, and a handwritten note outside a girls’ orphanage. A three-day-old baby girl was found abandoned in a blue coloured basket on a roadside at Takka Colony in the Panvel area of Navi Mumbai. The child was first seen by the local residents. The baby was found during a search operation after hearing her crying. The locals immediately informed the police after learning about the incident. A note written in English was also found in the basket.
The note said that the child could not be raised due to poor financial condition. The police reached the spot and took the baby to the hospital for examination and handed it over to the Child Welfare Committee. The hospital authorities informed that the baby was healthy.
Initial examination revealed that the baby was abandoned within 72 hours of birth. The police have registered a case against the parents under the sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and started an investigation.
