NEW DELHI: The intelligence unit has received information that India is one of the main targets of IS-K, a unit of ISIS, which carried out the bombings in Kabul. The Islamic State Khorasan (IS-K), an Islamic State unit based in Khorasan province in Afghanistan, was established in 2014 with the aim of establishing the rule of the caliphate in India. The intelligence unit has received information that youngsters from Kerala and Mumbai have been trained and recruited into the terrorist outfit.
A national media outlet quoted intelligence officials as saying that several young people have been trained and equipped to carry out their plans and that they could carry out a series of bombings in the country if they get an opportunity.
Intelligence officials believe that the IS-K, which opposes the Taliban, carried out the bombings in Kabul to show that the Taliban does not have the capacity to provide the security guaranteed to Afghanistan. In addition, officials have learned that Jaish-e-Muhammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba, two terrorist organizations targeting India, have shifted their headquarters from Pakistan to Afghanistan.
