NEW DELHI: Frightened after India vowed retaliation for the Pahalgam massacre, Pakistan seeks refuge under China's shadow. Pakistan's Defence Minister told an international news channel that an Indian attack could happen at any moment.

Meanwhile, critical discussions are underway in Delhi to prepare for a heavy assault. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi twice yesterday to brief him on the final stages of preparations.

India has readied a formidable arsenal, including Rafale and Sukhoi fighter jets equipped with BrahMos missiles, the Russian-made advanced Triumph S-400 missile system, the Pinaka rocket system capable of firing 12 rockets within 44 seconds, as well as Akash and Prithvi missiles. Indian Navy warships armed with BrahMos missiles are also positioned in the Arabian Sea. In addition, MQ-9B drones are ready for deployment.

Turkey, a key ally, is reportedly assisting Pakistan. Seven C-130 aircraft from Turkey landed in Karachi and Islamabad, carrying what is suspected to be weaponry. There were also reports that Pakistan had received long-range PL-15 missiles from China.

Despite supplying weapons, China has taken a two-faced stance, now calling for steps to de-escalate the conflict and demanding a fair investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack.

The United States reiterated yesterday that it stands firmly with India and strongly condemns terrorism. It also emphasised that both countries should act responsibly and resolve the issue through dialogue.

Delay in BSF soldier's release

The release of BSF constable Parnam Kumar Shah (40), who was taken into custody by Pakistani Rangers after accidentally crossing the border, is being delayed. Several flag meetings have been held over the past few days. BSF chief Daljit Chaudhary has briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the situation.

"India's attack is imminent. We are strengthening our forces."
— Khawaja Asif, Pakistan Defence Minister
