BENGALURU: Onam celebrations are in full swing across Bengaluru but an incident in Tannisandra disrupted the festivities. At Monarch Serenity Apartments, a woman named Simi Nair trampled and destroyed the ‘pookkalam’—a floral arrangement made by children—who had spent hours preparing it.
The children had gathered flowers early in the morning to create the Athapookalam, a symbol of Onam celebrations. However, Simi Nair confronted the organizers and stood on the pookkalam for an extended period, despite their pleas to stop.
She argued that the pookkalam was set up in a common area of the apartment, claiming it violated the bylaws that prohibit such displays. In response, the organizers stated they would consider legal action against her.
