Man commits suicide after killing 23-year-old daughter 

PALANI: In a ghastly incident, a man ended his life after killing his daughter. The incident happened at Kanakkanpatti near Palani the other day. Palaniswami (55), a building construction worker committed suicide by hanging after killing his daughter Dhanalakshmi (23).

Her marriage was getting delayed as she was suffering from health issues and Palaniswami was sad over it.

Palaniswami lived with his wife Vijaya (41), son Ranjith (25) and daughter Dhanalakshmi. His wife and son had left for Tiruchendur Temple. Palaniswami was at home with his daughter Dhanalakshmi. Police said Palaniswami strangled his daughter with a rope to death and then he committed suicide in the same rope.

After killing his daughter, he dressed her in a new sari which is usually a part of the rituals. He then applied sandalwood paste (chandanam) on her forehead. When his wife could not contact Palaniswami on the phone, she informed her relatives. When they reached home, their house was found locked and saw through the window Palaniswami hanging.

The two were lying dead in two separate rooms. They later informed the police. A case has been registered and an investigation is on.
