SHILLONG: More information surface in the honeymoon murder case in Meghalaya. The mangalsutra and ring found abandoned in the home stay in Sohra helped to suspect Sonam in the missing and death of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi (29). Police said that jewelry raised suspicions on Sonam.

The Meghalaya DGP said the married woman abandoning her mangalsutra and leaving suspected her role in the case. The police conducted a search at the home stay where the couple was staying after receiving a missing complaint. Raja and Sonam took the home stay on May 22.

However, they were not able to get a room there as they had not booked in advance. However, Sonam had given her box containing her mangalsutra there for safe keeping. The fact that she did not get the box containing her mangalsutra from the home stay in Sohra even though she was given a room in the home stay in Nongriat also raised suspicions.

Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam got married on May 11. Sonam and her lover hatched a conspiracy to kill Raghuvanshi on May 18. Sonam also tried not to have any physical relation with her husband. She forced her husband to visit temples to avoid physical contact. She also convinced her husband that physical contact should not be allowed during this time as she was visiting temples. Sonam herself made the necessary preparations for the trip to Meghalaya.

Vishal Chauhan, Ananth Kumar and Akash Rajput were hired by her lover Raj Kushwaha to murder him. Raghuvanshi and Sonam left for Meghalaya on May 20. Meanwhile, Sonam gave information about their whereabouts to the killers. On May 23, news came that the couple was missing from Sohra. On June 2, Raghuvanshi's body was found in a pond near the Wei Sawdong waterfall in Meghalaya. Sonam was not found. Initially, the police thought that the assailants had also attacked Sonam. Later, the police started a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, Sonam was found in a weak condition from a dhaba in Ghazipur. Sonam had confessed that she had killed her husband.
