CHANDIGARH: Himanshi’s eyes welled up with tears. She urged the government not to stop here and to continue the fight against terrorism. She expressed her gratitude to the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Operation Sindoor. Himanshi Narwal, wife of Navy officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal who lost his life in the Pahalgam terror attack, spoke with deep emotion, expressing satisfaction over India’s strong retaliation.
“Operation Sindoor must not end. It should mark the beginning of the end of terrorism. My husband served in the defence forces. He always wanted peace in the country. His spirit lives on with this operation. No more innocent lives should be lost. Hate and terrorism must not exist in our country. The government must show zero tolerance toward terror and hatred,” Himanshi said.
“It had only been six days since my wedding, and I pleaded with the terrorists to show mercy,” she recalled. “But they told me to go and ask Modi for that mercy. Today, Modi and our armed forces have given them the answer,” Himanshi added.
Vinay and Himanshi, residents of Karnal, Haryana, had gone to Pahalgam to celebrate their honeymoon. The photo of Himanshi sitting beside her husband Vinay’s lifeless body after the terror attack had deeply moved the entire nation.
Tribute to the fallen
Vinay’s family said India’s counterattack was a tribute to the 26 victims of the terrorist strike, including Vinay. Speaking to the media, Vinay’s father Rajesh, visibly emotional, said, “Our children will never return, but this retaliation will make terrorists think a hundred times before attacking again. Our soldiers deserve every bit of honour.”
Vinay’s mother, Asha Narwal, praised the armed forces for carrying out a just and fitting response. “This is a tribute and justice for all those who lost their lives. The military must continue forward to ensure such attacks are never repeated. We expect a clear message to be delivered to terrorist groups,” she said.
Himanshi’s father, Sunil Swami, also voiced his support, saying, “This was a rightful retaliation for the innocent lives taken.”
