CHENNAI: The senior manager's death in the Madurai LIC office was found to be a murder after a shocking turn of events. The murder was committed by the administrative manager of the office, D Ram (46). He meticulously planned the murder and made it look like an accident, but one move faltered.

Manager Kalyani Nambi (56) died of burns in a fire that broke out in the building on December 17.

Kalyani Nambi had warned Ram of action over the irregularities in insurance claim settlements. This forced him to work longer hours in the office. In retaliation, he piled up the files in the manager's cabin, poured petrol and set them on fire. The accused then locked the cabin from the outside. Kalyani died from severe burns as the fire spread.

Initially, a short circuit in the air conditioner was blamed for the accident. However, the plan was foiled when Ram fabricated a false story that a masked man entered the office, stole the manager's jewellery, and set it on fire.
